Before and After Care with Sugaring

Hand holding sugar

Here are some things you can do before and after sugaring to help your skin and prevent irritation.

Before

  • Hair must be at least 1/4 of an inch long. 10-14 days since shaving or 3 weeks from last wax.

  • Exfoliate with a scrub in small circular motions 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Avoid trimming the hair too short. If your hair is long trimming your own hair is recommend prior to your service.

  • Avoid moisturizing or wearing deodorant right before your appointment.

  • Stay hydrated internally and externally.

  • Avoid showering or bathing right before your appointment. Taking a quick shower 1 hour or more before your appointment is okay.

After
  • Avoid working out, sweating, saunas, steam rooms, submersion in water and heavy friction for the first 24 hours. The follicle is open for 24 hours after sugaring, you will want to avoid unwanted bacteria.

  • Wear sunscreen, as the areas that are sugared have received a light exfoliation making them more vulnerable to UV damage.

Maintaining
  • Avoid shaving between appointments.

  • Try and book your next sugaring appointment within 4 weeks.

  • Exfoliate with a scrub in small circular motions 48 hours after your appointment to avoid occlusion of the hair follicle by dead skin cells. This causes ingrown hairs.

  • Exfoliate 2-3 times a week with a scrub.

  • Try to always hydrate the skin after showering or bathing.

  • 5 weeks or less after last sugaring with me is a maintenance for Brazilians and Full Bikinis.
